The Ancient Egyptians believed that when someone passed away their soul lived on in the afterlife, a place of eternal peace. Before ones ka, or soul, was able to attain such freedom, they first had to be judged by Osiris, the god of the Underworld. In this final judgment, the heart of the dead, which was believed to be where the ka resided, was weighed against a feather. A heavy heart indicated a life that had been full of regret, guilt, sorrow, or unfinished business and thus prevented the ka from entering the realm of eternal bliss. The Egyptians used magic, sorcery, astrology, and ritual to ensure that in the final battle of the soul, the heart would emerge victorious.

After studying psychological astrology with Jim Sher in Los Angeles, she began her studies at Kepler College where she was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in Astrological Studies. Laura continued her education at Pacifica Graduate Institute, studying Mythology and Depth Psychology and completing her Master of Arts.
Laura's academic interests center around the origins of astrology, in consciousness and in history, and her passions are flamed by pursuing unknown truths about ancient Alchemy, Hermeticism, mythic literature, and the transmission of thought between the East and the West. She is a writer of fiction and non-fiction and an amatuer linguist with beginning skills in Ancient Greek, Sanskrit, and Hebrew.
